Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks, but the position is unclear and poorly developed. While the writer mentions both benefits and drawbacks, the ideas are presented in a fragmented manner without logical expansion or relevant examples. The response lacks a clear introduction and conclusion, and the arguments regarding earthquake safety and climate control are superficial and lack depth. The response fails to provide a coherent argument, resulting in a limited response that does not fully address the complexity of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical organization. There is no paragraphing, which makes the text difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'The' to start sentences and the misuse of 'so' as a connector. The progression of ideas is disjointed, jumping between topics like parking, earthquakes, and elevators without clear transitions. The lack of structure significantly hinders the reader's ability to follow the writer's train of thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There is significant misuse of word forms, such as 'hotness' instead of 'heat' or 'temperature,' and 'ellivater' (spelling error). The writer relies on basic, repetitive vocabulary, and there is a lack of control over word choice, which frequently impedes communication. The use of 'loses' for 'disadvantages' and 'strictness' as a verb are examples of lexical errors that demonstrate a lack of range and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is characterized by frequent, systematic errors that often distort meaning. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The shape of home are design'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper syntax, such as 'The best way to provide large number of homes to people in large cities .' The lack of control over basic grammatical structures, including pluralization and article usage, makes the text difficult to read and understand.
