Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that constructing building sections vertically is an efficient aspect to provide shelter in big cities. I completely convinced with this viewpoint because they serves better which I further explain in the upcoming paragraph.
To commence with, the most prominent feature of tall apartment blocks is that space utilization wisely. To explain this, as vertically buildings provide a lot free available space that can be further employ for additional things like factories and home shelters as well as parks in cities. Another noticeable thing is that it costs less than horizontal buildings which require city's substantial space cost. The foremost thing is that these buildings provide local people homes under one roof . For instance, many skyscrapers are the house of 1000 of individuals. Thus, this clearly demonstrate that tall buildings lend a helping hand even in space cost or shelter.
However, seismic activity is one of the main fear of these tall buildings. To embark on, unlike small buildings, huge building might have higher concerns in earthquake or any weather conditions. For example, suppose in earthquake it become difficult for people to reach on the ground floor on soon as possible. Another compelling term is that these building take much time to build up. Since, these requires proper building criteria to made on which consumes enormous time in construction. Hence, these buildings create some challenges .
In conclusion, although these buildings can have some concerns such as seismic activity and time consuming, I firmly have opinion that the advantages of these clearly outweigh the disadvantages due to the fact that these are not beneficial to space or cost but also connect many people under one roof

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The main ideas—space efficiency and cost-effectiveness—are relevant, though the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'space utilization' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific, concrete examples. The counter-argument regarding seismic activity is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific real-world examples to support your claims. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis needs to be increased to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with,' 'Another noticeable thing,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To embark on' when introducing the counter-argument. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Thus, this clearly demonstrate that tall buildings lend a helping hand even in space cost or shelter.' Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would strengthen the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on some repetitive or imprecise phrasing, such as 'big cities,' 'noticeable thing,' and 'foremost thing.' There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'constructing building sections vertically' instead of 'high-rise construction' or 'vertical development.' While your meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific terminology to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'I completely convinced' (missing 'am'), 'they serves better' (subject-verb agreement), 'vertically buildings' (incorrect word form), and 'these requires proper building criteria to made' (incorrect passive voice construction). While you attempt complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct word forms (adjectives vs. adverbs), and ensuring that verb tenses are used accurately throughout your arguments.
