Student answer (Band 5.5)

As population is increasing rapidly, ultimately there is more need of residency. Home is a basic necessatity of life. In cities there are more machinary based factories for the development of certain items. So to provide enough homes in large cities tall apartment blocks should be build. I definitely aprove of this statement because blocks would be more convenient for people than buying a whole house in this economy. In the subsequent paragrapghs, I shall explain why building tall apartment blocks is the best way.

As we all know, in what position our economy lies. Keeping that in view, the better way is to do something that is in budget and people can afford. For instance, many foreigners visit our country and as they are on tour to explore our hometown. They practically have to stay somewhere so renting a whole house would be troublesome for their budget. For this reason renting an apartment would be a lot more suitable for them.

Moreover, if we talk about landscape it is in its favour. Less land would be grounded for living and more articles can be build in its place. Government chose this route because they think about future consequences.

However, if a billionaire wants a separate place for him he most probably will build a whole town for himself. On the other hand, those who can afford buys whole apartment and houses as well.

To sum up this discussion, the better way to provide enough homes is to build tall apartment blocks in large cities. That is favourable to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and often lacks depth. For example, the argument regarding tourists is not directly relevant to the core issue of providing housing for a city's permanent population. The point about land usage is relevant but remains underdeveloped. To improve, you should focus on providing more substantial arguments, such as the efficiency of infrastructure, social integration, or environmental sustainability, and support these with more logical, real-world examples rather than focusing on temporary visitors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak. For instance, the transition from discussing economic affordability to the needs of tourists is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic or slightly misused, such as 'Moreover, if we talk about landscape it is in its favour.' The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track the flow of the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'machinary based factories' instead of 'industrial sectors' and 'less land would be grounded' instead of 'less land would be occupied'. Spelling errors like 'necessatity' and 'paragrapghs' also occur. To achieve a higher score, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and ensure you proofread for basic spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'As population is increasing' (missing article), 'tall apartment blocks should be build' (incorrect passive voice), and 'those who can afford buys' (subject-verb agreement error). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms in passive constructions, and proper article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
