Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent days, the constructional development in any large city has been extremely crucial and evident. Some of the city builds tall apartment block while the other try to create a small colony with tiny houses. In this essay we will discuss both the aspects and the final point of view.

One of the most prominent reasons for the need of the more accomodation is due to the job prefernces. Many employees are leaving their hometown and staying on site. Irrespective of the migration of people, to have a peaceful life style, its important that people are having a proper accomodations with all the utilities around. A tall apartment with multiple rooms in it will falicitate more spaces for people as it occupies a certain land but provides space for many people. The main advantage of having multi-storey apartment is it can accomodate a huge number of people. To give an example, I am currently a resident of Bangalore. 7 years back when I first came to the city, it was not crowded how it is current days. To manage the bottle neck population, various builders have started building tall apartments, mainly next to the offices . Following this, a certain level of development like construction of hospitals, schools, hypermarket has also been observed. A few of the builders were also tend to build villa plots but that didnt serve the purpose of managing enough homes for people as it takes a huge area just for a couple of families. One more important aspect is ,often, people offer their own property on rent as it helps different individuals to stay in one apartment based on the space instead of multiple apartments.

In conclusion, I think to equip a home to a large population can only be done by building tall apartment blocks. Its important to ensure that each and every resident of these apartment are getting all the necessary resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a relevant example from Bangalore, the explanation of why tall buildings are the 'best' way is slightly repetitive. You mention job preferences and infrastructure, which are good points, but the argument could be strengthened by contrasting the efficiency of high-density housing with the environmental or social drawbacks of urban sprawl more explicitly. The essay is a bit brief in its analysis, and the conclusion is somewhat abrupt, failing to fully synthesize the main arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Following this' or 'One more important aspect is ,often,'. There are also issues with sentence-level flow; for instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure that each sentence logically leads to the next. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall flow feels a bit disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'constructional development', 'facilitate', and 'infrastructure' (implied). However, there are several spelling errors ('accomodation', 'prefernces', 'falicitate') and some awkward collocations ('constructional development', 'manage the bottle neck population'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary accurately and ensuring correct spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Some of the city builds', 'A few of the builders were also tend to') and punctuation errors, particularly with comma placement. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
