Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. This significantly limits the development of ideas. While you state a clear position, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For example, the point about 'housing problems' is mentioned multiple times without being expanded upon with specific evidence or logical progression. The ideas are under-developed, and the response lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you reach the minimum length to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no proper paragraphing, which makes the flow of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'when' and 'nowadays' to start sentences. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the lack of clear transitions between the introduction, body, and conclusion hinders the overall readability. To improve, you should organize your essay into distinct paragraphs (introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion) and use a wider variety of linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'on the other hand' to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same words, such as 'people', 'housing', and 'problem', throughout the text. There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'housing problem would be finished' (should be 'resolved') and 'big apartments' (should be 'high-rise buildings'). The range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents you from expressing your ideas with precision. To improve, try to learn synonyms for common words and practice using collocations appropriate for academic writing, such as 'urban density' or 'sustainable infrastructure'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('high rise building build'), article usage ('in many Europe nation'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to parse. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors often impede the reader's understanding of your intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
