Student answer (Band 6.5)
High rise apartments provide better accommodation in big cities. I completely agree with this statement.
Many populated cities like New York, Bangkok, Beijing, Hongkong, Karachi have giant buildings providing homes ranging from old to modern lifestyles. Firstly, the flats are cost effective and cater to different sizes of families. For example, in my city Islamabad, there are projects offering space with two, three and four bedrooms to families. They are affordable and provide safe living. Besides this, some buildings offer studio as well as small one room condos for singles and couples. Shared spaces are also popular for people who moved to the city only for work and require money saving option for living. Secondly, the access to a range of facilities is a very attractive benefit such as Gym, Grocery store, swimming pool, play area at your footstep. Thirdly, a covered and secured car parking is an added advantage for apartment owners often missing in houses for instance in cities like New York and Karachi where safety and covered parking is a big issue. Lastly, the connection with neighbors can be great in the flats and having other children to play with your children is an added benefit.
Though, the sense of having a good community in one place is a blessing, sometimes can be other way around if there are noisy neighbors. Moreover, many people find houses more comfortable.
In conclusion, the huge buildings provide more space than a house does and large cities benefit from them as quite a huge space is saved for the parking and traffic. Mathematically, four or five houses can be built on a 15000 square feet land but a ten floors apartment building can provide more than 50 homes to people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. You provided several relevant arguments, such as cost-effectiveness, access to facilities, and space efficiency. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat list-like. While you mention benefits like 'gym' and 'swimming pool', these points could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The counter-argument in the penultimate paragraph is brief and slightly underdeveloped, as it does not fully weigh against your main position. To improve, ensure each main point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more specific, illustrative example rather than just listing features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the transition between the benefits and the counter-argument is a bit abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disconnected due to the repetitive structure of your arguments. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cost-effective', 'accommodation', and 'space efficiency'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'at your footstep' (should be 'on your doorstep') and 'money saving option'. Additionally, some word choices are quite basic, such as 'huge buildings' or 'big issue'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'big cities', you could use 'metropolitan areas' or 'densely populated urban centers' to show a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'having other children to play with your children' (which is slightly repetitive) and 'sometimes can be other way around' (missing a subject, e.g., 'it can be'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips in article usage and sentence construction. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with precision. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures will also help demonstrate better control.
