Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the necessity of tall buildings in large cities, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you present arguments for and against the statement, the conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a clear final position from being established. Some points, such as the mention of natural disasters, are relevant but lack sufficient elaboration to fully support your stance. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your conclusion effectively synthesizes your main points rather than trailing off. The overall position is identifiable, but the lack of a finished conclusion impacts the depth of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by awkward phrasing. For example, the sentence 'City never build from a point of time' is unclear and disrupts the flow of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'necessary', 'large', and 'provide', which restricts the sophistication of your argument. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'emanates facilities' (likely meaning 'amenities') and 'relay on' (intended as 'rely on'). These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and ensure you are using words in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same basic words throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that frequently impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'tall buildings are play'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'In current populated world to ensure all people shelters...'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—before attempting more complex grammatical structures. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency is essential.
