Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world the population is increase day by day. How ever we have limited resources like areas, plots, and living environment. So for that reason many citizens faces the living facilities.

To begin with, we know that large cities are excellent for multiple works. Like all the companies , hospitals, industries, malls and other necessary things are always available. So that must peoples are attracted towards big cities. How ever the are is limited , but due to the high demand of locality to stay the problem are coming out. So the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall and multiple apartment blocks. Where it can solve the citizens issues. For example, while 10 family takes 10 different homes in different areas ,now it is possible to live in one particular area with multiple families and different homes. So the tall buildings are very excellent idea to survive multiple families in one place.

Secondly, we discuss the disadvantages of this statement . We know every side has their own bad and good qualities. So in this case people are most of the time facing problems during searching for homes. Because we all want to live in the good society with lots of advantages. More ever to fulfill the citizens requirement most of the land loads build their home in a blocks so, they will charge and also make a business. Some how, now it is very challenging to search with a good budget friendly apartments. Due to overrated home and lands they charge high amount. Sometime they face the earthquakes type problems. Natural airs with lots of sunlight they may not take sufficient, traffic jam, and some other issues are also present in cities.

In conclusion, limited area with many people can survive with proper way , so tall buildings with apartment blocks are very good ideas for large cities. I agree with this but some how people may irritates easily like suffocation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is inconsistent; while you state you agree in the conclusion, the body paragraphs present a balanced view without a clear, sustained argument. Some ideas, such as the mention of 'earthquakes' and 'suffocation', are introduced but not fully developed or linked back to the core argument about housing solutions. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout, with each paragraph directly supporting that stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'How ever' used incorrectly at the start of sentences and 'So for that reason'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the benefits of cities and the solution of tall buildings is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'nevertheless' would help create a smoother flow between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There is frequent misuse of words, such as 'locality' instead of 'space' or 'land loads' instead of 'landlords'. You also rely on repetitive phrasing like 'good society' and 'excellent idea'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'infrastructure', or 'urban sprawl', rather than relying on basic descriptive adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('population is increase', 'citizens faces'), incorrect article usage, and sentence fragments. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors in word order or tense. For example, 'while 10 family takes 10 different homes' should be 'while 10 families take 10 different homes'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralisation before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
