Student answer (Band 5.5)

The population of the world is increasing day by day and there should be enough homes for everyone in large cities as well. I strongly agree with providing tall apartment blocks in large cities and this essay will prove this view.

As the population of the world is growing rapidly, and becuase of this it creating a lot of problem as well. The main problem which is created by this is that of land. As there are many people around the world and they need a place to live. So, it be considered that we may ran out of land to provide separate home for everyone at separate place. For that, it is better to build tall apartment blocks in large cities and offer those apartment to the people. Furthermore, by building apartment blocks, we can secure land for harvesting and many other usefull thing as well.

Other than that, we can create a society of blocks where we can provide them everything they need for daily use and this will help them to make their life more easy when they can have everything in one place. But there might be some drawbacks to this tall building apartment blocks and that is, when there some kind of incident like a terrorist attack or any other attack like this then it will affact whole area and at such a short time there will be a large number of causality of life as well. For intance, we should took this concern into our main resolve to tackle and create solution to this.

In conclusion, we should be building tall apartment blocks to provide homes to everyone and we should start it from large cities, and reserve land as much as we can for harvesting, which is also necessary for people to live on.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding land conservation and the convenience of integrated living are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'terrorist attacks' as a drawback is a bit extreme and lacks a logical connection to urban planning, making the argument feel slightly disjointed. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more practical, nuanced arguments, such as infrastructure strain or social isolation, and provide more detailed explanations for each point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Other than that', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. For example, the transition 'Other than that' is used somewhat loosely. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the population growth and the specific solution of apartment blocks could be more smoothly linked.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'large cities' and 'apartment blocks'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'usefull thing' (useful things) and 'causality of life' (casualties). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', or 'sustainable infrastructure'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it be considered', 'it will affact'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('we should took this concern'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense consistency and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
