Student answer (Band 5.5)

The best way to provide enough accommodation in big cities is to build tall apartment block. Some people might disagree with the statement, I completely agree, not only because of the improvement of cities infrastructure but also because of enough homes.

Overall, there are multiply benefits of building tall apartments, One of them is traffic control and over crowded roads. In many large countries tall apartments have been developed to reduce issues related to accommodations and government allowed to construct high-raised apartments on such places where all the facilities available. Moreover, the streets are wire free and not face electricity problems by building tall buildings.

Furthermore, the recent research shows that the number of people want to live on rented apartments are gradually increased day by day, so they prefer to live in tall apartments where the rent are also low. Some people have passion to build spacious house for them but its not considerable by all.

On the other hand, some people disagree with this statement because they want to live in their own designed house. Although living in tall apartments have same facilities and have extra benefits which would be helpful for all in their financial conditions.

For instance, I also lived in apartment which is more efficient for us because these apartments are constructed nearby to all facilities such as schools, hospitals, parks, and supermarkets which are important for daily life.

Consequently, I completely agree with this statement because nowadays these types of accommodations are efficient instead of living in single apartment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention traffic control and infrastructure, these points are not fully explained or supported with specific examples. For instance, the claim that tall buildings make streets 'wire free' is unclear and lacks logical connection to the argument. To improve, you should focus on expanding your main points with more detailed explanations or concrete evidence. The conclusion restates your position, but the overall depth of the argument remains at a basic level, which prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Overall, there are multiply benefits' is grammatically incorrect and awkward. Additionally, some sentences lack logical flow, such as the jump from traffic control to 'wire free' streets. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'big,' 'good,' and 'facilities.' There are also several errors in word choice and form, such as 'multiply benefits' (should be 'multiple'), 'high-raised' (should be 'high-rise'), and 'rent are also low' (should be 'rent is'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and housing, while paying closer attention to word forms and pluralization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'number of people want' instead of 'number of people who want'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'its not considerable by all'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
