Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that tall buiding blocks is only an effective solution in metro cities to provide housing for all people. I competely agree with this view because it accomodate large number of people, while making better use of limited urban land and essential facilities are easily accesible.
One of the primary reasons is that many people can live in houses while using limited space in high-rise buildings. This means that when governments can spend more on vertical buildings rather than horizontal, this allow many families to live in without expanding farmland and green spaces. As a result, this not only helps meet the growing demand of housing, but also protect enviroment surrounding near the cities. Moreover, as cities continues to grow, vacant land increasingly becomes sarce and expensive, which makes the housing expensive, however if government spend money on tall housing facilities, this will make housing affordable.
Another significant benefit is that essential facilities are easily avaliable. That is to say, these apartments are located nearby all the major sevices such as hospitals, schools, and workplaces. Therefore, people spend less time in commuting, and can enjoy easier access to essential services. This can improve their quality of life while reducing traffic congestion on road and air pollution. For instance, cities such as Singapore have successfully used high- rise residential buidings to facilitate a dense population while maintaining public transport and modern facilities.
In conclusion, big buildings is one of the best solutions to accomadate a large population, while using less urban land and people can access to all facilities easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding land efficiency and accessibility are relevant and supported by a specific example (Singapore). However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the points about land use and affordability are closely linked and could have been more distinctly separated to add depth. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph introduces a distinct, fully explored idea rather than restating similar concepts in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the primary reasons', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'this allow' instead of 'this allows'). Paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Improving the variety of cohesive links and ensuring consistent pronoun reference would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'vertical buildings' and 'dense population'. However, there are several spelling errors ('buiding', 'competely', 'accomodate', 'accesible', 'sarce', 'sevices', 'buidings', 'accomadate') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'metro cities'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise word choices would significantly improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'tall buiding blocks is', 'cities continues', 'big buildings is') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'this allow many families to live in without expanding'. The errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely cause confusion. To improve, the student should focus on basic subject-verb agreement rules and proofreading for minor slips in tense and number.
