Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the recent decades, the world population has skyrocketed. One of the major consequences of this increase is shortage of places to live, especially in big metropolitan cities, it has become really difficult to be able to find accomodation. I strongly agree that to solve this issue, one of the best ways is to build tall apartment blocks.
To begin with, nowadays people in cities mainly prefer to live in tall apartments due to a variety of factors such as, beautiful views, better ventilation and prevention from loud traffic noises. In addition to that, more and more individuals are prefering to live in apartments due to their convenience. Moreover, the biggest advantage of building high-rise towers is that it saves a lot of space, especially in cities like Mumbai where the cost of land and infrastructure is highly expensive. This way a large number of people can live at one place without occupying a wide area of land.
In addition to that, this development also saves a highly substantial natural resource of the Earth, that is, land. Furthermore, this can also make facilitating infrastructure and transportation easier. More people mean more shops and stores in that area and people can get whatever they want close to their houses. What's more, nowadays modern buildings also have a high range of amenities such as gym, pools, club houses, indoor and outdoor games, etc. Therefore, people can get all the facilities in order to live a comfortable life.
Admittedly, there are also a few drawbacks of this development such as overcrowding and lack of personal outdoor space. However, these problems can be solved through careful planning and construction of well designed residential complexes.
Conclusively, it can be said that even though there might be a few limitations of living in a high-rise apartment, it is always going to be one of the best and most practical ways to live and make the most of a particular area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your agreement, such as space efficiency and the inclusion of modern amenities. The ideas are extended with examples like Mumbai, which adds depth to the argument. While the discussion of drawbacks is brief, it is sufficient to acknowledge the counter-argument and maintain a balanced perspective. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully developed with more specific evidence or logical consequences to avoid a slight tendency to over-generalize.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition to that', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. To improve, try to vary the way you link sentences and ensure that the progression of ideas flows more naturally between paragraphs rather than relying solely on standard linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'metropolitan cities', 'infrastructure', and 'residential complexes' are used correctly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'prefering' (spelling) and 'prevention from loud traffic noises' (collocation). While you attempt some less common vocabulary, the range is adequate rather than wide. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions, and ensure consistent accuracy in spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several error-free sentences, but some grammatical slips persist, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph ('...metropolitan cities, it has become...'). Other minor issues include 'a high range of amenities' (should be 'a wide range') and 'facilitating infrastructure' (slightly awkward phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex structures. Focus on punctuation and refining sentence boundaries to improve overall accuracy.
