Student answer (Band 6.0)
Adequate homes can be made in large cities by building high apartment blocks. I strongly believe with this statement because these apartment take limit space in cities and it is also better for cities development.
One of the main reason is that, that buildings with the height provide more houses for people. They take little areas in cities. Although they need a space in height, there is sufficient space in the sky. For instance, cities with larger apartment buildings may take less area, but these have more rooms and houses for the people where they live comfortably. Additionally, buildings are more aesthetic which attract tourists. They create a pattern of beauty which looks cool. Tourists, when enter to the city, have a direct glance on the buildings. As a result if the buildings are made aesthetically, they may gain tourism. It also leads to the city's revenue as more public will come to thr city, they will purchase things such as foods and toys. Moreover they can also rent those apartments.
Another important reason is that tall apartment blocks are well-adjusted. By this I mean, that there is everything available for residents as well as for cities' developments. For example, these buildings provide every facility regarding individuals' needs such as cafes, electricity, internet, gas and most importantly security. If these type of buildings were not constructed, there would be no space for factories, shopping malls and restaurants which may result lack of urban's growth.
In conclusion, I think tall apartments provide better homing and it has certain advantages related to cities' growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on space efficiency and urban development. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that tall buildings 'attract tourists' and lead to the purchase of 'toys' is not a strong or logical justification for housing solutions in large cities. The points regarding infrastructure and facilities are more relevant but remain under-developed. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more substantial arguments, such as the impact on public transport, social housing availability, or environmental sustainability, rather than aesthetic appeal or tourism revenue.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'For example' and 'Moreover'. Additionally, some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'By this I mean, that there is everything available'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between ideas is more explicitly stated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'big', 'good', and 'aesthetic'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'homing' (instead of 'housing') and 'public' (used to mean 'people'). Phrases like 'take limit space' and 'direct glance on the buildings' are unnatural. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and architecture. Expanding your range to include less common vocabulary would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('these apartment take'), article usage ('the city's revenue', 'the sky'), and awkward phrasing ('if the buildings are made aesthetically'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors such as pluralization and preposition usage, and practice constructing more complex sentences with accurate punctuation.
