Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the modern world, population in large cities is increasing day by day and a place to live is very difficult to find. To tackle this problem ,nowadays, large apartment buildings are building, i agree that it is a great way to provide accomodation to families but it has some drawbacks. In this essay I am going to state some advantages and disadvantages of apartments.
To begin with the advantages of apartment blocks, as today more and more peoples are moving to big cities to find a job or to study so building tall apartments is best way to provide accomodatiom to them because vertical buildings do not need large acres of land to build a colony and apartments are built in conjusted areas and they are more precious and better faciliies are offered and they are more affordable to rent as compared to tradiational house. Moreover it is a great way to earn money for builders and real estate agemts

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 161 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you introduce the topic and state a position, the essay is incomplete; it lacks a conclusion and fails to provide a balanced discussion of the disadvantages mentioned in the introduction. The ideas presented are underdeveloped, and the failure to reach the minimum length significantly impacts the overall task response score. To improve, you must ensure you fully explore both sides of the argument and provide a clear, structured conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression of the argument is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall structure feel incomplete. Referencing is generally clear, but the limited length prevents the demonstration of a wider range of cohesive devices or sophisticated paragraph management. To improve, focus on developing a clear structure with an introduction, at least two body paragraphs, and a summary conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'accomodatiom', 'conjusted', 'tradiational', and 'agemts'. Additionally, word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as using 'precious' when you likely meant 'spacious' or 'valuable'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on repetitive structures. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'large apartment buildings are building' (passive voice error) and 'peoples' (incorrect pluralization). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct passive voice construction, and standard punctuation rules.
