Student answer (Band 5.0)

apartment has considerable discussion in recent years although some belives tall building in cities other argue in it. in my opinion I largely agree with tall building and this easy will explain why

the primary reason for my agreement is shortage of buses in large cities for instance the population growing every year and houses became less for each people if each family build their own house in this earth then it will become major issues for land how that will be mange for the government

the main advantage of tall building maximum people live there moreover if government build the vertical building for people the they live easily and occupy maximum people in less land

in tall building there are numerous amenities for people who living there gym for the people who do and that keeps you healthy and park for children which they play when they find free time and spa center there they relaxed

most of the building has basement for parking so it solve the major issues of traffic because when people park there vehicles outside the house or in house it also require space

for building the tall apartment block it will be beneficial for agriculture and others firms when you build the major housing societies it will need huge space that will effect the our agriculture land and faces the shortage of our meals for instances people in my countries building housing society over the agriculture land and now shortage the land where we grow our plants if they construct those type of building that good

in conclusion building the apartments is efficient for us and safe the agriculture land and everyone live in one roof and provide everything which they need in addition workspaces offices will be near the building

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention benefits like land efficiency and amenities, the explanation is often repetitive and lacks depth. For example, the point about 'shortage of buses' appears to be a misunderstanding of the prompt (likely meaning 'housing'), and the argument regarding agriculture is relevant but expressed in a fragmented way. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument with clear supporting examples rather than listing several points in a disjointed manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often missing or mechanical, such as the abrupt shift from parking to agriculture. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, which makes the flow of the argument feel disjointed. For instance, the transition 'moreover if government build' is grammatically awkward and does not effectively link the ideas. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') to connect sentences and paragraphs more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'big' or 'good' and struggle with precise collocations. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'mange' instead of 'managed' and 'shortage of buses' instead of 'housing shortage'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word formation limit the score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing,' 'sustainable development,' and 'urban sprawl,' and practice using them in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some belives'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'if each family build their own house in this earth then it will become major issues'. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are rarely error-free. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on punctuation to avoid run-on sentences.
