Student answer (Band 6.0)

Tall apartments blocks accommodates large number of people in small ares. They saves land and prevent the expand of agricultural areas. Such provisional apartments are constructed near public transport, hospitals, schools and college for easy access to these places. I partly agree that tall apartments reduce the transport congestion are effective for densely populated cities but it is not the only way to solution.

The benefits of tall apartments includes efficient use of land such as small place results in more residents for people. It accommodates huge group of people in more sufficient space to live in. It lowers the infrastructure of urban areas. Basically, it provides easy access to facilities such as shops, hospitals, schools and universities. Reduce urban sprawl, better public transport and offers lower housing prices. For example, its beneficial for students who come from other cities for higher study as result they find it cheap and sustainable environment.

However, the drawbacks of high apartments is that they are overcrowding results in congestion as too many residents in one building. Lack of privacy and mental disturbance as people may be harmed by isolation. Safety measures are less more risk of vanishing during fire or earthquakes, because it is difficult to manage such precautions. Poor quality of life and maintenance problems like issue in lifts, pumps and elevator.

In conclusion, although building tall apartment blocks is an effective way to accommodate a growing urban population while making efficient use of limited land, I believe it should not be the only solution. A combination of high-rise buildings, affordable housing and well-planned suburban development would be a more sustainable and practical way to meet the housing needs of large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. You clearly state your position in the introduction, noting that while you agree they are effective, they are not the only solution. The ideas are relevant, such as land efficiency and infrastructure access, though some points are under-developed. For instance, the mention of 'mental disturbance' and 'isolation' is an interesting point that could have been expanded with more specific reasoning. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, but the development of arguments remains somewhat superficial, which is characteristic of a Band 6 response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the text. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For example, the second paragraph is a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as 'as result they find it cheap', which disrupts the logical progression. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that sentences connect more fluidly would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'urban sprawl', 'sustainable', and 'densely populated'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'lowers the infrastructure' (instead of 'reduces the strain on infrastructure') and 'vanishing during fire' (instead of 'evacuating during a fire'). These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your expression. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations more accurately and incorporating more sophisticated vocabulary to express complex ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors. For example, 'Tall apartments blocks accommodates' has a subject-verb agreement error, and 'They saves land' is also incorrect. There are also issues with article usage ('in small ares') and sentence fragments. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization to improve your accuracy.
