Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the population increases day-by-day government need to provide more housing for the residents. I strongly agree with this statement, that it is the efficient way to facilitate residents by building tall apartments' blocks for individuals who are living in urban cities.

Firstly, tall apartments building provide more accommodations to people as compared to houses. Like in tall apartment building provide accommodations to many families and individuals, but in contrast, houses give accommodation to only one family. For example, I am also living in an apartment and in my apartment, there are almost 30 to 40 families are living. But beside my apartment there is a house and in this only one family lived. Secondly, the land in urban cities is expensive so building tall apartment and providing more accommodations to families in less space must me cost effective. For example, apartment contain an area of 272 square-feet, but when we consider house which contain same area but facilitate maximum two families in term of accommodation. So, apartments provide more accommodation to families in same areas as compared to houses in urban cities.

Thirdly, government need to build apartment for foreigner tourists. Like when an individual come from any other country it requires some place to live. So, tall apartment can also cover-up this. Lastly, with the passage of time the population increases. So, the demand for accommodations in the country increases for new residents. So, constructing more apartments and provide more accommodation to families and individuals is beneficial.

Overall, building tall apartments in urban areas is a better way to fulfill the demand of accommodation. Apartment is best way from every side like in term of cost, accommodations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding space efficiency and cost-effectiveness are relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly the focus on 'accommodations' in every paragraph. The third point regarding tourists is less relevant to the core issue of providing homes for a city's permanent population, making the argument feel slightly tangential. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more sophisticated arguments, such as the impact on urban infrastructure, social community dynamics, or environmental sustainability, rather than repeating the same point about space multiple times.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'Lastly' are used as a rigid framework rather than to create natural flow. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear; for instance, the transition between the example of the 30-40 families and the conclusion about cost-effectiveness lacks a smooth logical link. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph develops a distinct, logical point would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'accommodations', 'houses', and 'apartments'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'facilitate residents' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'cover-up this'. To improve, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and housing density. The repetition of the word 'accommodation' throughout the text limits the demonstration of a wider lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'government need to provide' (subject-verb agreement), 'apartment contain an area' (missing article/pluralization), and 'must me cost effective' (typo). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes (e.g., 'apartments' blocks'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be a great starting point for improvement.
