Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. While the main ideas—such as land efficiency, proximity to services, and environmental benefits—are relevant, they are often presented in a list-like fashion rather than being fully developed with detailed explanation or evidence. For instance, the point about tourism in the conclusion is a new, underdeveloped idea that lacks a logical connection to the main argument about housing needs. The response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited, keeping it at a Band 5.5 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices (e.g., 'First of all', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'due to , extra facilities'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the internal structure of paragraphs lacks strong logical flow. The punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of commas and capitalization, further disrupt the readability of the text. Overall, the organization is present but lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'big', 'tall', and 'good', and some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'soaring population requires more homes, So it will leads to build additional residence'. The student attempts to use more academic vocabulary in the conclusion, but the phrasing 'create positively impact' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, the student should focus on collocations and more sophisticated synonyms for common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it will leads to'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex construction, such as 'The governments also most likely to provide home as a tall buildings'. Punctuation is also a significant issue, with erratic comma placement and missing full stops. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures limits the score to a 5.0.
