Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention population growth and rural-to-urban migration, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The reasoning is somewhat circular, repeatedly stating that cities are crowded without exploring alternative solutions or the potential downsides of high-rise living. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with concrete evidence or logical consequences, ensuring that each paragraph contributes a distinct, well-supported idea rather than restating the same premise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical or unclear. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Although' and 'In conclusion', the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. For instance, the transition 'Probing further' is used, but the subsequent paragraph struggles to maintain a clear focus on a single argument. Referencing is sometimes ambiguous, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic, repetitive terms such as 'better life style', 'enough homes', and 'crowded'. There are also several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'eduction' instead of 'education' and 'there' instead of 'their'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations related to urban planning and demographics. Avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay, as this limits your ability to demonstrate lexical flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include missing articles ('in large cities'), incorrect verb forms ('population of Cities got'), and punctuation errors. There are also problems with subject-verb agreement and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors such as subject-verb agreement and article usage, and practice constructing more complex sentences with accurate punctuation.
