Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph touches on land distribution, it remains vague and lacks specific examples or logical depth. The second body paragraph discusses opportunities in cities, but the connection to the specific solution of 'tall apartment blocks' is weak. The conclusion is incomplete, which significantly impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you should provide concrete examples, such as mentioning specific cities or urban planning concepts, and ensure that every paragraph directly supports your thesis with well-reasoned arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Another advantage', and 'To sum up' to signal transitions. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete conclusion and some disjointed sentences. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs are not always clearly linked to the main argument. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but shows limited range and some inaccuracies. There are several spelling errors, such as 'COMETITIVE', 'SKYCRAPPERS', 'DRWABACKS', 'ECOMONY', and 'ENALBES'. Furthermore, some word choices are awkward or imprecise, such as 'rocket skycrappers' and 'wide range opp'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'urbanisation' and 'standard of living', the frequent spelling mistakes and limited flexibility in word choice prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to catch basic spelling errors and try to incorporate more precise academic collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in number of houses'), subject-verb agreement issues ('GOVERMENT need to'), and awkward phrasing ('ACCOMODATE MANY PPL AT ONE LAND'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing and capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction is noticeable. To improve, practice using complex sentence structures more accurately and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like article usage and verb forms.
