Student answer (Band 5.0)

The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I do agree with the statement. Thus, discussed in this essay.

Nowadays, metropolitian cities is having a huge number of population. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi , Kolkata and Chennai are the four major place where approximately 90% of indian population are adapted as a home. I do agree that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. But there are few reasons based on that government is taking decisions to built an apartment in these cities. As previously mentioned that 90% of Indian peoples are living in these four major cities. Additionally, Mumbai is one of the most populated place across these other metropolis. Many cricketers, actors, businessmans and directors are living in Mumbai. Because this place is having connectivity across the world. That's the main reason to live in this town. Moreover, Bombay is most populated place and there is no area to live in due to high infrastructre. It is considered as a highly crowded area.

Based on this decision Government of India has taken a decision that providing enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. This is very common in all metropolis. However, in local areas constructions is already approved by the Government. Furthermore living in flat provides more homes within one place and increases the diversity too.

In conclusion, I agree with the statement to build an appartment in famous metropolitians beacuse it increases the diversity, flexiblity and provides convinent place in city center.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is weak and repetitive. The essay relies heavily on anecdotal mentions of Indian cities rather than exploring the broader implications of high-rise living, such as urban planning, sustainability, or social impact. The arguments are underdeveloped, often stating that something is 'common' rather than explaining why it is the 'best' solution. The introduction is also abrupt and lacks a proper thesis statement, which limits the depth of the response. To improve, you should focus on providing logical reasons and specific examples that directly support your stance on why tall buildings are the most effective solution for urban housing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by disjointed sentences and repetitive phrasing. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically or to connect ideas that lack a clear logical flow. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the transition between discussing Mumbai and the general concept of high-rise living. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas, leading to a somewhat fragmented reading experience. Improving the use of linking words to show relationships between ideas would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors (e.g., 'metropolitian', 'businessmans', 'infrastructre', 'appartment', 'convinent'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, relying on basic descriptors. There is a lack of precision in terminology related to urban development. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and pay closer attention to spelling and the correct plural forms of nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'cities is having', 'population are adapted'), article usage, and sentence structure. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
