Student answer (Band 5.5)

Apartment blocks are the best way to allocate homes for the citizens of any large city. Considerations must be retained regarding the size of the apartments and should significant in size so that they can prove beneficial and sufficient for the large amount of the people.

I agree with this statement because this terminology or notion has more advantages for the people who are currently facing the crisis corresponding to homes in the most populated areas.

Firstly, urban areas has been facing hardships regrading houses since many years because the population has been increased to a large extent. To overcome this trouble which might be proved dangerous, there is need of collaboration between the government and private sector, who have currently expertise in real estate. In addition, government should build more apartments for the people and for this purpose, getting help from the real estate holders prove beneficial for both of them. For this, the large empty grounds which are lying empty near the city must be taken into the considerations.

A prime instance is that, If government would make investment in constructing many apartments then it would be an ultimately benefit for the people as well as government who collects rents from the people.

There is a disadvantage for this perspective, It might be a simple and innovative notion but it requires huge investment and proper planning and it is not possible without the help of private individuals.

In a nutshell, though making apartments would prove beneficial to eradicate the hardships of the people but it require long term planning and investment then, this dream would become reality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the need for government and private sector collaboration, the argument remains somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'large empty grounds' is mentioned but not fully explained in the context of how tall buildings specifically solve urban density issues compared to other housing types. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of why tall buildings are the 'best' solution, perhaps discussing land efficiency or infrastructure, rather than just stating they are beneficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'This terminology or notion' or 'For this'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs could be improved. For instance, the transition from the problem of population growth to the suggestion of government-private collaboration is a bit disjointed. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would help the ideas flow more smoothly and logically throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'beneficial' and 'people'. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'terminology or notion' to describe a housing policy, which is not contextually accurate. Furthermore, phrases like 'real estate holders' are slightly imprecise. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure development', or 'sustainable living', and focus on using words that fit the formal tone of an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'urban areas has been facing' and 'population has been increased'. There are also issues with article usage and preposition choice, such as 'regardings houses since many years'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses, particularly when discussing long-term trends or hypothetical scenarios.
