Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 160 words. This severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt, the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. The position is stated in the introduction, but the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words and provide a full, structured argument that explores both sides of the issue or justifies your position thoroughly with clear, extended explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, such as using 'the first and foremost reason' to introduce a point. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'To explain properly, nowadays, a most of the individuals'. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow and structure of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by fully developed supporting points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You use some relevant terms like 'controversial' and 'facilities', but there are issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'make apartments as compared to home' and 'carry less area'. These errors occasionally make your meaning slightly unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and focus on correct collocations. Avoid repeating simple words and try to incorporate more academic synonyms to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'a most of the individuals', 'the government build' (subject-verb agreement), and 'If a person can live in apartments then anyone can make a good relationship' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without awkward phrasing.
