Student answer (Band 5.5)
Yes, to build tall apartment blocks and in each block having several rooms are decreasing the needs of making different homes in large or populated cities. I agree to this statement to this extent as it provide space in large cities, because large cities are mostly attracted for people of small towns to get study, jobs and to be settled their after all. So building huge apartments with several rooms and areas rather then making different homes, can accamodate these incoming study and job seekers people. If we start building homes obviously it require space and less number of people can live their and it can also create the overall cost pressure, and its also very difficult to make homes for students and newly came job seekers to build homes or to give rents of these homes. So, by making huge apartments with several blocks can easily settle these peoples and it will be less costly to them in comparison to live in rents in home or buy it. To some extent, i also think the building such huge buildings has risk of falling in result of any disasters and also can be problematic for people who wants to live on their own terms rather than on apartment holders terms or society made by people living in different blocks of apartment. In conclusion, If we keep in mid space and cost huge buildings should be made but in term of personal satisfaction and peace small homes with proper spaces can be benificial

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, though the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. You argue that tall buildings are necessary for space and cost-efficiency, which is a relevant point. However, the explanation of these points lacks depth and specific examples. While you acknowledge a counter-argument regarding safety and personal satisfaction, the discussion remains quite general. To improve, ensure that each main point is supported by a concrete example or a more detailed explanation of the causal link between high-density housing and urban sustainability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. For instance, the transition 'So building huge apartments...' is a bit informal and mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited, and some sentences feel disconnected from the previous ones. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'making different homes' and 'newly came job seekers' are unnatural. You rely on basic descriptors such as 'huge' and 'several', which limits the sophistication of your writing. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning, such as 'high-density residential developments', 'urban sprawl', or 'cost-effective housing solutions'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('it provide space', 'it require space'), word order, and article usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited attempts at complex grammatical forms. Errors such as 'newly came job seekers' and 'in result of any disasters' occasionally impede the flow of meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
