Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position in the introduction, the subsequent paragraphs are underdeveloped and lack a clear, logical progression. The arguments regarding the benefits of high-rise living are fragmented and do not directly address the prompt's focus on whether this is the 'best' way to provide housing. The essay ends abruptly, leaving the final argument unfinished. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay is fully developed to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs do not flow logically. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as the transition 'For Instance' which introduces a personal anecdote that is not clearly linked to the main argument. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would greatly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'big apartments to many people lives' and 'department' used instead of 'apartment'. Phrases like 'most of the things' and 'heavy amounts' are imprecise and do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. You rely on basic vocabulary, which hinders your ability to express complex ideas clearly. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and practice using these words in correct sentence contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some threatened are comes'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'furious to saw'), and sentence fragments. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further disrupts the flow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
