Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. You maintain a clear position throughout, acknowledging the benefits while noting the drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding community-oriented living is supported by a relevant example from India, which is a strength. Conversely, the point about transportation is under-developed and lacks a clear logical link to the building type. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point is fully explained with clear reasoning rather than just stated. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, though it could be more nuanced.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To detail it out' or 'To put it in other words'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between community benefits and the Indian example could be more refined. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'phenomenon', 'community-oriented', and 'prominent'. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'considerably believed', 'large raw house societies', and 'very frustration'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise usage. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) rather than just individual synonyms. Expanding your range to include more academic or topic-specific vocabulary would also help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'this trend has are far more agreement' and 'the transportation can be improves'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended meaning. To progress, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that verb forms are consistent, especially when using passive voice or modal verbs.
