Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding parking is clear, but the counter-argument about safety is underdeveloped and relies on a specific, somewhat anecdotal example (the plane crash) rather than a broader discussion of urban planning or structural safety. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should aim to expand on the implications of your points rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Apart these' is not a standard transition, and the use of 'For example' is repetitive and sometimes introduces points that are not true examples. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Their will no personal terrace', where the pronoun usage is confusing. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'furnish homes' instead of 'provide housing' and 'get fall down' instead of 'collapse'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'plenty of population' instead of 'high population density'. To reach a higher band, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development and housing, and practice using these words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('if their guest are visiting their is no parking'), punctuation errors (spaces before periods), and subject-verb agreement problems. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for common errors like articles, pluralization, and basic sentence construction to improve your accuracy.
