Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are somewhat superficial and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'less land required' is a good starting concept but is not fully explored with specific examples or logical consequences. Additionally, the conclusion introduces a new, vague idea about individuals building according to their choice, which is not relevant to the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks. To improve, ensure you meet the word count and provide more detailed, logical support for your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'First of all' and 'To explain it'. Some transitions are awkward, such as 'To commence with ample with ample of reasons', which contains repetition and grammatical errors. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these issues. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'lack of shelters' (which usually refers to homelessness rather than housing shortages) and 'English Times' (which is likely a misnaming of a publication). The repetition of words like 'tall apartments' and 'facilities' limits the range. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and architecture, and work on using synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Recent time is witnessing', 'thousands of individuals live in tall apartments because big apartments cover less area', and '6 out of 10 buildings always in high risk zone'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage are noticeable throughout. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and practice constructing more complex sentences with correct punctuation and verb forms.
