Student answer (Band 4.5)

The ultimate solution to give maximum homes in big urban areas to construct huge apartment blocks and i am totally agree with that because the rapid increasing of population in cities only mange in this way.

Further more from the start of twenty century the people who was live in rural areas and the people who become educated they moved in urban areas for better future so for this reason more people means needs more homes and if without any plane randomly start the construction in cities it will lead the unorganized community just waste of land. Pakistan is the biggest example for this government did not took any action against the increasing population in cities in the result their are totally unorganized cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 129 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the student takes a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped and the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The prompt asks for an extent of agreement, and while the student agrees, the lack of depth and the failure to complete the task prevent a higher score. To improve, the student must expand on their points with specific examples and ensure the essay is fully developed and concluded.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is hindered by the abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes inaccurate manner, such as 'Further more' and 'So there is no better'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a proper conclusion makes the overall arrangement disjointed. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases like 'big urban areas' and 'huge apartment blocks' are functional but basic. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'mange in this way' (manage) and 'without any plane' (plan). The student struggles to use less common lexical items effectively. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their vocabulary to include more academic and precise terms related to urban planning and housing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Examples include 'i am totally agree' (I totally agree), 'the rapid increasing of population' (the rapid increase in population), and 'people who was live' (people who lived). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there are significant issues with verb tense and subject-verb agreement. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, the student must focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb forms, and proofreading for common errors in articles and prepositions.
