Student answer (Band 5.5)

I think it is the most hot topic nowadays and I strongly agrees as In metro cities there is huge number of people who stays there to get a lot of opportunities to earn And house is one of the necessary need of human being. therefore to provide basic necessities to all population stayed in the city government needs to build the appartments.with appartments they can provide huge group of people in small area where bunglows on the land takes a lot of space and a single family can stay in one hause as they all need personal space in contrast in the apartment there are 100s of families can stay there and also can get there privacy without taking the huge plots as house.

I personally stays in the society of bunglows where there are around 50 houses in my society and 50 families stayed in this all big space but there are four towers which was builded last year in my town which takes the same space as our whole society but in contrast where 50 families stays in my society there are [redacted phone] families who can stay in the same square foot of area in huge towers.

Nowadays as global warming become a huge issue in this world it is Very important to preserve the jungles to stop pollution for that the apartment is very important because it takes less space than houses or bunglows that's why we don't need to cut trees and utilise the small plot into the building where huge numbers of families can stay.

In my view everybody has their own preferences some wants to leave in the house where they get their personal land and others wants to stay into appartment as it is more cheaper and gives more fresh air and wind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, particularly the points regarding land efficiency and environmental preservation. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about global warming is introduced but not fully explored in terms of how high-density living specifically mitigates climate change beyond saving space. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and introduces a new, slightly contradictory point about personal preferences rather than summarizing the main arguments. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your supporting points with more sophisticated reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely heavily on basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'that's why' to connect thoughts. There is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs smoothly. For example, the transition between your personal example and the environmental argument is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'there' and 'they' without a clear antecedent. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You use basic terms like 'big', 'huge', and 'stays' repeatedly. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'appartments', 'bunglows', 'hause') and word choice issues, such as 'most hot topic' instead of 'hottest topic' or 'more cheaper' which is grammatically incorrect. To improve, you should aim to use more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('I strongly agrees'), tense inconsistencies ('towers which was builded'), and punctuation errors. Many sentences are run-on, lacking proper clause separation. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will help improve your accuracy.
