Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern era, some people believe that building high apartments in large cities are more convenient, as this covers less space than bulding a single homes.

Tall societies are build by the modern way and design by the architects which helps in many ways like it covers less space with attractive look . moreover, these tall apartments have many facilities like swimming pool and park with swings where small children can easily enjoy.

furthermore, for adults they have built the gym, cardio and bhangra sessions so they don’t have to pay extra for all these facilities.

High rises apartments are build because nowdays, single houses cover more space which leads to cut alot of trees which is not good for the environment. Government insure that every large cities should have a properly designed for work, tall apartments houses and commercial area for businesses. As well as look after that properly plants to be grown in the city which enhance its beauty and make sure they small-small changes which make the city look more modern with best facilities . One of the biggest examples is Chandigarh which is India’s first well planned city with all the basic facilities with modern look .

I personally believe, that tall apartments cover less space with all the basic facilities and also with modern look .

Overall , building tall apartments now days would be the best decision as it has a great impact on the city .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of high-rise apartments. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you mention environmental benefits and amenities, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The example of Chandigarh is relevant but not fully explained in relation to the prompt's focus on 'tall apartment blocks.' Furthermore, the response is 243 words, which is below the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task, as the arguments remain superficial and lack the necessary expansion to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While you use some cohesive devices like 'moreover,' 'furthermore,' and 'overall,' they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'tall societies' and the subsequent points is disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs needs improvement to ensure that ideas transition smoothly and logically for the reader.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'tall apartments,' 'modern way,' and 'look.' There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'tall societies' (which is not standard English) and 'small-small changes.' While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'commercial area' and 'well planned city,' the range is limited. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and varied collocations to express your ideas more effectively and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('building high apartments... are,' 'societies are build'), incorrect verb forms ('design by the architects,' 'are build'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. You need to focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and accurate sentence construction. The frequency of these errors is high, which significantly affects the clarity and professional tone of the writing.
