Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people think that building large apartment are the great way to provide sufficient homes in a busy cities. I strongly believe that tall apartments are the good ideas in cities.
On one hand, the most significant thing is place. Apartments consists less space, and good maintanance comparing to single homes. Because, cities are compressed of many migrant workers from different places. For instance: Chennai is a good city with lots of employment opportunities, therefore it has more population. In that case, single housing consumes more space whereas apartment within a less space vertical buildings can affort many people.
Additionally, it helps the people to save money. Single houses consumes lots of maintainance charges but apartment is a shared maintanence and it also provide various extra features. Such as shopping complex, gym, park for children, parking lot, and particularly with a securities. For example: city life is a expensive life. All the prices are high such as land, construction products, and maintanance charges. Apartment facilities are good comparing to the single house.
In conclusion, considering space and financial circumstances living in apartment can save huge amount and space and also it provides hygine.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 193 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack the necessary depth for an academic essay. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the supporting points regarding space and financial benefits are under-developed. To improve, you must expand on your examples and provide more detailed reasoning to fully address the prompt. The current length prevents a thorough exploration of the topic, which is a requirement for higher band scores.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On one hand', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion', the transitions between sentences are occasionally mechanical or awkward. For instance, the sentence 'Because, cities are compressed of many migrant workers...' is grammatically fragmented and disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within paragraphs needs to be more cohesive to ensure that each point leads naturally to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range expected for higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'compressed of' instead of 'comprised of' or 'consisting of', and 'securities' used instead of 'security'. You also repeat words like 'maintanance' (misspelled) and 'space' frequently. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and housing, and ensure you check your spelling, as errors like 'hygine' and 'affort' detract from the professional tone of the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement is often incorrect, such as 'Apartments consists' and 'Single houses consumes'. There are also issues with article usage ('a expensive life', 'a shared maintanence') and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors impede the overall fluency of the writing. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
