Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but struggles with clarity and focus. While you present a position, the arguments are often underdeveloped or tangential. For instance, the discussion about 'slums' and 'diseases' is relevant to housing, but the subsequent points about 'road infrastructure' and 'education' are not directly related to the prompt's focus on tall apartment blocks as a solution for housing. The position is somewhat inconsistent, as the introduction suggests building accommodations rather than 'top building' (tall buildings), but the body paragraphs do not clearly explain why tall blocks are or are not the best solution. To improve, ensure every paragraph directly supports your stance on the specific method of housing proposed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and disjointed sentences. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Firstly', their usage is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To explain it, when they live with their loved ones, due to which also spend time...'. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using transition words that logically link ideas rather than just signaling the start of a new point, and ensure that each sentence clearly relates to the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which hinders the expression of complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'top building' instead of 'high-rise buildings', 'generate more others amenities', and 'make better their future'. Some phrases are repetitive or grammatically incorrect, such as 'masses' and 'noise things'. To reach a higher band, you should work on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and practice using these words in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help you express your arguments with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('if capital invest'), sentence fragments ('The main one is that many poor people who live to slum'), and incorrect preposition usage. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Many sentences lack the necessary grammatical control to be considered error-free. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to verb tenses and pluralization.
