Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some of the people believe that the best method to provide residences in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
I strongly agree that to manage the residences for increasing population is to build high apartment buildings.
If we look in future prospective, as the population will kept on increasing it will be difficult to spare land for agriculture purpose to provide homes. So the better approach is to build multi-story apartment buildings where number of people can accommodate. Moreover such societies have parks and community blocks where people can socialize and interact with each other. People can enjoy public facilities. People who lives in apartments can keep themselves away from traffic noise. Surrounding space can be utilized to build hospitals, parks and IT centers. Solar panels can be installed on sides of high buildings to rely on Solar energy instead of grid production for the residents.
Besides this, if homes are build horizontally it will be difficult to tackle the sewage and electricity problems. Landscape of the city looks good if tall buildings are built. Apartments are much more safer than individual homes. Maintenance of these buildings are managed by the management, people not need to be worry about these issues. People can enjoy a better view at higher floors. Higher the buildings are more they receive the fresh air and sunlight.
I personally believe that, governments and urban planning departments should plan to make taller buildings and should have proper landscape plan to manage the increasing population.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments provided, such as land conservation, social interaction, and infrastructure efficiency, are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of solar panels and IT centers is a list of features rather than a deep exploration of how tall buildings solve urban housing crises. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical reasoning. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development remains at a basic level, lacking the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Besides this', and 'I personally believe', which help the flow. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother; for example, the jump from traffic noise to solar panels feels abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to better link the supporting points to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'urban planning', 'multi-story', and 'infrastructure'. However, the range is limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'future prospective' (should be 'future perspective') and 'number of people can accommodate' (should be 'can be accommodated'). There is little evidence of less common or idiomatic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with more sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Some of the people believe' (should be 'Some people believe'), 'population will kept on increasing' (should be 'will keep on increasing'), and 'people not need to be worry' (should be 'people do not need to worry'). Subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency are areas that require significant attention. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score.
