Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that building tall apartments is the best way to provide enough homes. I somewhat agree to this idea because it is a good for environment but in other hand it is not safe to escape from natural disasters.

In one hand, I support to built tall apartments because the overuse of environment will stop. Building a different home of individuals leads to the over use of the environment where we can just build in one area and tall apartment can hold a lot of people. The use of the cable line will be less. The area will be managed properly. The natural resources will be as it is. People will get fresh air and the beautiful view , animals will live in their home.

In other hand, there will be fear about natural disaster such as earthquake. During earthquake people tend to move to the free space but if we live in tall buildings we have to get down by stairs and it is not safe to come by and we cannot get down by lifts.

In conclusion, both things have their own consequences but I think building tall apartments is good way to provide enough homes due to this the overexploitation of land will stop and it will be more convenient for searching home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about 'overuse of the environment' is vague and lacks specific examples or logical depth. The discussion on natural disasters is also superficial. To improve, you must expand your points with concrete evidence or detailed explanations to reach the required length and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'In one hand' and 'In other hand' are incorrect; 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' should be used instead. Additionally, the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. While there is an overall logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive structure of the sentences limit the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'good', 'bad', and 'home'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'support to built' (should be 'support building') and 'searching home' (should be 'finding housing'). To achieve a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, sustainability, and infrastructure, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it is a good for environment', 'the overuse of environment', and 'it is not safe to come by'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors in article usage and verb forms. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and the integration of more complex grammatical structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
