Student answer (Band 5.5)

In modern periods, Every people want better job, better lifestyle, better financial source, better education and this facilities can get in modern cities. If every person comes to cities for better opportunities there might be increase in population in particular area. Therefore, to get proper accommodation there should be tall buildings which can fit more families in small areas.

In the cities, Where are greater demand or opportunities people like to get settle there. If there are limitation of living area people might leave that cities and find other work or return to hometown. However, people are main source of developing country. So, giving them a proper well maintain area to live then they might get settled for lifetime. Like that, In every year people get shift to other country to earn money. For example i also travel to Pune from Ratnagiri to get higher education and get well known degree for increasing my demand in my field.

The tall building makes every thing easier. The people who shift themself from there comfort or permanent home to the unknown city they required there own private space which can be get in there own apartment. As in cities there is limited area so the building should build tall and increase number of apartments by which more count of people can live is less area.

In my perspective definitely building a tall apartment blocks can provide enough houses in the cities. The cities where is less area to build house for a single person in different area.

In conclusion, people who travel to big cities they required proper living space and it can be provided by building higher building and increasing numbers of apartment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the need for accommodation due to urbanization, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about people moving to cities is made multiple times without introducing new perspectives or counter-arguments. To reach a higher band, you should expand on specific benefits—such as efficient land use, infrastructure sustainability, or social connectivity—rather than restating the basic need for housing. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not synthesize the main points effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'In conclusion' and 'For example', but others are used incorrectly or awkwardly, such as 'Like that' to start a sentence. The referencing is sometimes unclear, for example, 'The people who shift themself from there comfort...'. The progression of ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing, which makes the argument feel circular rather than building toward a logical conclusion. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'better', 'people', and 'cities'. There are several word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'financial source' instead of 'financial stability', 'get settle' instead of 'settle', and 'well maintain area' instead of 'well-maintained area'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to urban planning and housing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Every people want', 'there is limited area'), article usage ('the cities', 'a tall building'), and pronoun reference ('there own apartment'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors. While some complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty, such as 'The cities where is less area to build house for a single person in different area.' These errors are frequent and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though the overall message remains understandable.
