Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this increasing population getting a home in urban cities is quite difficult, some people believe that the best way to overcome this problem, tall apartments blocks should be constructed to provide shelter to citizens. I agree with this statement as both the perspective is discussed further.

One of the major reason to built apartment blocks is people would not worry more about rents as they can afford living in the building. As a result, living in a apartment is little cheaper than living in row houses. For example, people who migrate to other cities for better employment and to secure their future they would not be able to afford rents, especially if they are working in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Pune or Bangalore. Moreover, these days even governments is providing shelter to the lower class income people so that they can live happily with their family without any tension.

Furthermore, building apartment blocks in large cities can also reduce the space consumption. By constructing tall building less space will be occupied and government can use that space for some purposes too.

However, it also have some disadvantages, beautiful and old historical buildings are destroyed to make tall buildings. But it is necessary for people who can not find or afford rents. Another reason can be that by constructing a very huge blocks of approximately more than 20 floors, people may find it difficult in case of electricity shortage, especially who have health concerns.

In conclusion, although destroying historical buildings and heath concerns, I believe that building a tall blocks is necessary as it it reduce space and affordable to people who cannot pay expensive rents. Clearly, advantages outweigh disadvantages

The response addresses the task effectively, presenting a clear opinion on the need to build tall apartment blocks in urban areas. The arguments presented support the thesis, such as affordability and space efficiency. However, it could have better developed the discussion of disadvantages. The conclusion summarizes the main points but lacks a strong reinforcement of the argument. Overall, the response achieves the task but could explore the topic more deeply. Band score: 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay maintains a logical structure, starting with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, coherence suffers slightly due to awkward phrases and some unclear transitions, such as "both the perspective is discussed further." Additionally, there are grammatical errors that disrupt the flow. A clearer organization of ideas and smoother transitions between points would enhance coherence. Band score: 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The topic is explored using some appropriate vocabulary, but there are numerous instances of simplistic or incorrect word choices that detract from the overall impression, such as "very huge blocks" instead of "tall buildings" or "apartment blocks." Phrases like "little cheaper" and "the lower class income people" are also less formal and could be replaced with more advanced alternatives. Overall, while some vocabulary is used correctly, the range and precision are lacking. Band score: 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical range is limited with a mixture of simple and complex sentences, but many sentences contain errors that affect clarity. Instances of subject-verb agreement issues and incorrect article usage, such as "a apartment" and "is necessary for people who can not find or afford rents," are notable. While basic sentence structures are clear, greater grammatical complexity with accuracy is necessary for a higher band score. Band score: 5.5.
