Student answer (Band 5.5)

The tallest building become very popular in today era. Developing tallest apartment is the finest approach to facilitate more houses in big cities. The argue stated that the tall accommodations outweigh the drawbacks.

I strongly believe that the tallest apartment is good approach to accommodate as many people in urban areas. It will definitely help to utilize lesser field of the cities. Im China, government facilitate its population in tallest apartments. Otherwise they don't have enough space to accommodate everyone. If we talk about the capital city of Pakistan, Karachi. In Karachi, construction of tall buildings are very popular in present time. As many people moving to biggest cities along with their families for work or their businesses. However, government should also support this idea as well. Government should make such schemes to facilitate those people.

In contrast, tall buildings are beneficial on those areas, where weather conditions are good enough to live on higher floors. As an instance, in Lahore, higher buildings are not famous yet due to the weather conditions. Those individuals who cannot afford the air conditioner in summer season, they cannot survive on the higher floors. As compare to Karachi weather it's quite pleasant in summer season because of the sea. In facts, most of the individual, specially the elder people wants to live on the ground floor. Main reason is that they usually scared of tall buildings.

Taking everything into account I conclude that the apartments on the high floors is better approach for many cities as it provide enough space for everyone. But the weather conditions should be considered as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, though the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. You provide relevant examples, such as the mention of China and Karachi, which support your argument. However, some points, particularly regarding the weather in Lahore, are slightly tangential and could be more effectively linked to the core argument about urban planning. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development of the argument lacks depth in places. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly contributes to justifying your stance on whether tall buildings are the best solution for urban housing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the use of 'Otherwise' and 'As compare to'. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel disconnected. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context will help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'tallest building' or 'good approach'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'utilize lesser field' instead of 'maximize land use' or 'lesser land area'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, and focus on using words in their correct collocations to sound more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The tallest building become' (subject-verb agreement), 'In China, government facilitate' (article usage), and 'construction of tall buildings are' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of basic grammatical rules like subject-verb agreement and article usage.
