Student answer (Band 5.0)

I completely agree with this idea. There are several reasons to support this view. First, I believe it is the best way to provide enough homes. Because, it is efficient method to prepare homes for the general public. For example, there is a place where can construct any home, and construct normal home. Notwithstanding use wide place, people who can live there is only one group. As a result, many of the general public aren't provided home to live. Second, if governments construct apartment blocks, they can save their money. Because, it can more save money to construct normal homes than construct apartment blocks. For instance, price is more cheaper than build normal homes, hence, governments willing to build apartment blocks 3

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 122 words. This failure to meet the length requirement severely limits the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The points made regarding efficiency and cost are repetitive and lack depth. To improve, you must expand on your arguments by providing detailed explanations, real-world examples, and a more comprehensive analysis of the topic. The current response functions more like an introduction or a brief outline rather than a full essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak due to the lack of content. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'First' and 'Second', the connections between sentences are often unclear or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'Because, it is efficient method' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. The ideas are not fully linked, and the overall structure is fragmented. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph develops a single, clear idea with supporting sentences that flow logically from one to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'homes', 'build', and 'construct'. There is little attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'price is more cheaper', which is a redundant and incorrect comparative structure. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, you should aim to incorporate topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density accommodation', 'urban sprawl', 'cost-effective', and 'infrastructure'. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help you convey your arguments with greater precision and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as sentence fragments ('Because, it is efficient method...') and incorrect comparative forms ('more cheaper'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, with very few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb agreement and the proper use of articles. Additionally, practice combining simple ideas into complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
