Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, as the larger cities has undergone the urban development. So many individuals believe that it is the best way to provide enough houses in mega cities is by building tall apartments. From my perspective it is the ultimate solution for providing shelter to every individual who live in large cities by building tall apartments.

The primary reason is the overpopulation in larger cities leads to increase in the need for houses but despite the fact that the limitation of land, the personal houses can not be possible to provide every individual. For instance, the Mumbai is one of the mega city of the Maharashtra. In Mumbai the problem related to not getting house to live is very common because of overpopulation. Therefore this problems can be solved by building tall apartments, which can build with more than 40 flats in the one building and because of that almost everyone have chance to get home.

The another benefit of the building high-rise apartments is the getting the view of whole city just by standing in your house. For example, the person who lives in the 40 floor building and have own flat on the top floor of apartment can enjoy the view of whole city from their balcony and can spent their leisure time by just admiring eye catching view everyday. Because of this reason having tall apartments can be benefit for the individual who wants the admirable views everyday.

In conclusion, building the high-rise apartments in mega city have uncountable benefits because most of the individuals can have shelters in large cities and also for someone who want the adorable view of city from their house can get.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of high-rise apartments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the argument regarding overpopulation and land scarcity is relevant, the second body paragraph focuses on 'views' as a primary benefit, which is a relatively weak point compared to the socio-economic necessity of housing. The ideas are presented but lack depth and academic rigor. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more substantial arguments such as infrastructure efficiency, environmental impact, or cost-effectiveness, rather than aesthetic benefits like city views.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'So' at the start of a sentence and the repetitive use of 'because of this reason' or 'for example' indicates a limited range of linking words. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the another benefit', which is grammatically incorrect. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring smoother flow between sentences would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'mega city of the Maharashtra' and 'the problem related to not getting house'. The range is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good' or 'benefit'. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated academic vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, while ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the larger cities has undergone'), article usage ('the Mumbai is one of the mega city'), and sentence fragments ('So many individuals believe that it is the best way... is by building'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and verb tenses.
