Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The arguments regarding land shortage and affordability are relevant but lack depth or specific examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the argument. The conclusion is brief and introduces new, minor points rather than summarizing the main argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While some transition words like 'First of all' and 'Moreover' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the transition between the environmental argument and the final paragraph about amenities. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary depth to ensure a smooth flow of information. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'High command' instead of 'government' or 'urban side area' instead of 'urban areas'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'swimming poll' (spelling error) and 'High command'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and focus on correct collocations. Avoid repeating simple words and try to use synonyms to improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'Being as a human everyone has some basic needs'). Many sentences are simple or contain structural errors, such as 'So, earning purpose most people move to urban side area.' There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like 'now these days' (should be 'nowadays') is also essential.
