Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary era, world wide population increase day by day. On that note, the most prominent way to provide sufficient houses in big cities is to build multi story apartments block. I agree with this notation without any qualms and the reasons for the same have been discussed further.

There are numerous reasons justify my opinion. Firstly, it helps to protect environment because in small area people build tall building which give many people to live their. Secondly, due to technological advancement tall building have great amenities and comforting which helps people to live their life easily. For example, todays tall building have great escalator system as well as lift which are beneficial for both old and young people.

Moreover, in a big cities people like to live in nuclear families so for them tall building are the best because in a tall building people just means with own life they do not interfere in other life. Furthermore, in a big cities they have shortage of land so they do not make row socities so they build tall building where many people live in a many flats. For example, if they have 1 acre land and they construct row house in which only may be 300 to 400 people can live whereas in a same land if they build tall building which gives saltter to may be 700 to 800 people . Thus, these are the reason which justify my answer.

In conclusion. even though some people have a acrophobia so they can not live in a tall building, I still believe that, tall building give more people to seltter and helpful for nuclear families.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas presented, such as environmental protection and land efficiency, are relevant. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'technological advancement' and 'escalators' is a bit simplistic and does not fully explore the broader urban planning implications. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting examples, such as the calculation of land usage, are slightly repetitive and lack academic depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the socio-economic impacts of high-density living rather than focusing on basic amenities like lifts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'people just means with own life'. The logical progression is present but could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed theme. The punctuation, particularly the use of full stops and commas, is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'comforting' instead of 'comforts', 'row socities' instead of 'low-rise housing', and 'saltter' instead of 'shelter'. Additionally, some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'notation' when you meant 'notion' or 'opinion'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'world wide', 'todays') limit the score. You should focus on learning collocations related to urban development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'population increase day by day'), missing articles (e.g., 'in a big cities'), and incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'tall building' instead of 'tall buildings'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, you should practice using more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring that basic grammatical rules regarding tense and number agreement are applied consistently.
