Student answer (Band 5.5)

The population is increasing on the daily

basis, they best way to provide enough

accomodation to them is to construct

tall appartment blocks. I agree with this statement to some extent

. In forthcoming paragraphs I will

shed light on the my viewpoints.

To commence with the points which are

in favour, the first and foremost point is

that numerous people can live in one

tall building instead of building many houses.

To be more clear, if a person has to construct

a house, he should should cut hundred

of trees for making a house if everybody

follows this trend then it may cause

detrimental effects on environment and

resources. However, if they live in

tall buildings in one

appartment building 10 families can live

peacefully with thousands of amenities why

which can beneficial for them as well as

environment also.

Moving towards the paradoxical side, appartments are less spacious then homes. Person may get bore in less space. To clarify more children adolescents may not able to play in their appartments. Person who is not comfortable in citiy may face lots of problems. They may not able to customize their home by their own like such as grad gardens and many other things.Another worthmentioning

point is population in rural area may decrease and urban cities would become overcrowded which can leads to several problems such as traffic congestion and etcetera.

In conclusion, there are multifarious

benefits of constructing tall apartment blocks ,however drawbacks of this

can be overlooked that it can cause loneliness.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding environmental benefits and the drawbacks of limited space are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about rural population decrease is introduced but not fully explored in relation to the main argument. The conclusion is also quite brief and slightly contradictory, as it mentions 'loneliness' as a drawback, which was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point raised is fully supported with clear reasoning and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'However', and 'Moving towards the paradoxical side'. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, there are issues with referencing and clarity, such as the phrase 'why which can beneficial', which disrupts the flow of the sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sides of the argument, which helps the reader follow the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There are several spelling errors, such as 'accomodation', 'appartment', and 'citiy', which occur frequently. While the student attempts to use some less common vocabulary like 'multifarious' and 'detrimental', the overall control is inconsistent. Word choice is occasionally imprecise, such as 'paradoxical side' to introduce a counter-argument, which is not the most natural collocation in this context. Improving spelling accuracy and focusing on more precise collocations would significantly enhance this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'The population is increasing on the daily basis' (article usage), 'he should should cut' (repetition), and 'which can leads to' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and the use of 'etcetera' at the end of a sentence. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
