Student answer (Band 5.5)
IN THE EVER-EVOLVING WORLD, DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY PLAYS A VITAL ROLE FOR PEOPLE. SIMILARLY, PROVIDING MORE HOUSES OR BUILDING OCCUPY SOME PROBLEMS TOO. I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THIS NOTION. WHICH I WILL MENTION BELOW IN THE PARAGRAPHS.
TO BEGIN WITH, THESE DAYS, THERE ARE MANY CITIES GOING TO DEVELOP OR WE CAN SAY UNDER DEVELOPED CITIES BUT IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. CONSTRUCTING TALL BUILDINGS IN THE CITY IS A GOOD IDEA TO PROVIDE MORE FLATS TO THE CITIZENS. HOWEVER, IT NOT ONLY OCCUPIES THE FOREST LAND WHICH IS CLOSE TO THE CITY BUT ALSO CREATES PROBLEMS IN THE ENVIRONMENT. FOR EXAMPLE, IN 2012 SURAT CITY CONSTRUCTED ONE APARTMENT ON THE PLACE OF FOREST AREA. IN ADDITION, THEY CUT DOWN ALL THE TREES AND DEVELOPED MANY BUILDINGS AND OTHER FACILITIES. AFTER A FEW YEAR IN 2018 THE CITY POPULATION INCREASED, PEOPLE CAN THROW SOME WASTE AND GARBAGE OUT SIDE OF THE BUILDING WHICH IS HARM THE ENVIRONMENT AND AFFECT THE HUMAN HEALTH TOO.
MOREOVER, THERE IS SOME OTHER POINT WHICH AFFECTS MOST. THE HIGH RISE BUILDINGS ARE CREATING PROBLEM FOR AEROPLANE AS WELL AS THE TOWER OF THE MOBILE PHONE AND RADIO SIGNALS. THESE MEANS THE TALL APARTMENT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BLOCK THE VIEW AND TOWER SIGNAL. WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR AIRLINES AND THE MOBILE COMPANY. THE BEST EXAMPLE OF THIS REASON IS, IN 2018 THERE IS ONE MOBILE COMPANY JIO AND FEW AIRLINES FILED THE CASE IN THE COURT AGAINST THE LONGEST BUILDING NEAR THE AIRPORT AND IN THE CITY BECAUSE IT IS INDIRECTLY AFFECTING ON THEIR BUSINESS WHICH IS THEY DO NOT LIKE ABOUT IT AND IT IS TOTALLY PROBLEMATIC FOR THEM.
IN CONCLUSION, I DISAGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT AND MENTION THE REASON BEHIND THIS PROBLEM. IT IS AFFECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE OTHER WAYS TOO.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and sometimes contradictory. You state you disagree with the notion, yet you acknowledge that tall buildings are a 'good idea' to provide flats, which weakens your position. The examples provided, such as the 2012 Surat city case and the 2018 mobile company issue, are somewhat anecdotal and lack sufficient depth to fully support your argument. To improve, ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay and provide more robust, logical reasoning rather than relying on specific, potentially confusing examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While you use cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', the connections between sentences are often mechanical or confusing. For instance, the transition between the environmental impact and the signal interference issue is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'These means' in the third paragraph. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'good idea', 'problems', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'which is they do not like about it' and 'which is harm the environment'. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations. Avoid informal phrasing and focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('it is affect the environment'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to follow. For example, 'Which I will mention below in the paragraphs' is a sentence fragment. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect pluralization.
