Student answer (Band 5.5)

Now a days every developed country is following the same thing tall building which consists of more than 40 floors so they can accommodate many people in the flats or apartments.

I agree with this statement as everyone get comfortable life there. These buildings are in proper communities so they have separate parts , hospitals ,schools and they have nearest supermarkets so everything is easy to access as compared to single home on the land it will occupy the more space and less persons can live there because they are not getting all necessities near to their home.Every apartment has its own balcony so they can enjoy the view of the outside and get the fresh air.To reach every floor there is lift to so you reach as quickly as possible compared to stairs and for elders people is difficult to use stairs. Proper emergency alarms ,fire extinguishers are there. Security persons are available everywhere to protect us and your children from any hazard.

Contrary sometimes people want open space like terrace so it’s difficult to get it in these buildings. If your security system or emergency alarms not worked it will cause hazard.

As i am living in U.A.E we have advanced buildings and tall buildings of many apartments so large numbers of people accomadtion as soon as possible so i will recommend this idea of making new tall buildings with proper space for balcony , rooms ,kitchen and washrooms. This is the main reason I loved to live in UAE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention benefits like community facilities and security, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The counter-argument is briefly mentioned but not fully explored or refuted, which limits the overall persuasiveness. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or real-world evidence, ensuring that the connection between tall buildings and solving housing shortages is more explicitly articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. You use some basic cohesive devices, but they are sometimes used incorrectly or feel mechanical, such as 'Contrary sometimes' or 'As i am living in U.A.E'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is not always smooth, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'tall buildings', 'good', 'comfortable'). There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'accommodate many people in the flats' or 'less persons can live there'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic vocabulary and precise collocations related to urban planning and housing, while ensuring that your word choice is natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in U.A.E'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'if your security system... not worked'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'for elders people is difficult'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
