Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks, but the development of ideas is very limited and often unclear. While you state an opinion, the supporting arguments are fragmented and lack logical depth. For instance, the comparison between living in 'big cities' versus 'local areas' is confusing and does not directly answer the prompt about whether tall buildings are the 'best way' to provide housing. The ideas are repetitive and lack the necessary academic structure or relevant examples to fully support your position. To improve, focus on developing clear, distinct arguments for each paragraph and ensure your examples directly relate to the topic of urban planning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there are headings like 'Intro' and 'Detail', these do not function as effective paragraphing in an academic essay. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, leading to a repetitive and mechanical flow. For example, the transition between the advantages and disadvantages is abrupt and lacks logical connectors. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'however', and 'consequently' to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and often repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'your mind didn't fresh' and 'enjoy over life', which can cause confusion. You rely on a very narrow range of words, often repeating 'big cities' and 'apartments' throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to urban development, such as 'infrastructure', 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', and 'sustainability', while paying closer attention to how words are combined in English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is significantly flawed, with frequent errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and tense usage. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'If you live in big cities apartment its have space problems and many people live in the apartment and nobody you know only unknown person live'. These errors are frequent and often impede the reader's understanding of your intended meaning. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the basic sentences used are often grammatically incorrect. Focusing on mastering simple sentence construction and basic punctuation will be essential for your improvement.
