Student answer (Band 5.5)

As the population is rising over the years and the needs and demands of the new population are also increasing. The main requirement in home. A proper shelter is the first priority of every human being to survive. In large cities there is too much crowd of people because of all the facilities available there.

According to my opinion I completely agree with the idea of building tall apartment blocks to cover up the need of the people of getting new homes. These are very helpful in the sence that they gives a space to large number of people to stay in less space. For example, 20 families lives in a tall apartment building if they wants to go from there and wants to get their own home then the space coverage would increase 3 to 4 times consequently the city would become more crowded. In this aspect the best option is apartment . In large cities you can buy your apartment and lives then until you want . Let's talk about my personal experience , I love Islamabad and I was wanted to buy a home there but it was feeling too much difficult to build a net home there in the area I love the most because of many reasons including the space issue and construction issues. It was costing a lot so my uncle suggested us to buy an apartment there that was easily available to us in required destination and in less price and without any worries of it's construction. Now we often go to Islamabad in summer vacations and uses that apartment for living. In my opinion it's one of the best option because I've faced this situation and moreover it prevents the city from over buildings and adjusts more people.

In conclusion the idea of tall building apartments is one of best concepts ever and more people can stay in small area because of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention space efficiency and personal experience in Islamabad, the arguments lack depth and academic rigor. The explanation of how tall buildings prevent urban sprawl is a good point, but it is not fully explored. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating the same point about space saving. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'For example' and 'In conclusion', but the logical progression within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition from the general argument to your personal experience in Islamabad is abrupt. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is limited, and some sentences feel disconnected from the previous ones. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the one before it would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use basic terms like 'big', 'good', and 'new', which are repetitive. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'over buildings' instead of 'urban sprawl' and 'in the sence' (spelling error). To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density living', 'infrastructure', or 'sustainable development', and ensure that you use these terms in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they gives', '20 families lives'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'I was wanted to buy'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and tense consistency will help improve your accuracy significantly.
