Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that provide enough house in big cities is to build lots of apartments. In my opinion, I completely agree with this idea because lack of money and property.
First of all, costs of building apartment blocks are lower than other types of buildings. For example, if we have an area for housing and we want to use every single parts, we would definitely want to build apartment cause of money. We get more performance, so rents of homes will not increase anymore. Everyone will be happier and affordable for rents. However, if we think landscape of cities, it might seem bad-looking and waste of resources cause of long blocks.
Secondly, there are not enough places for buildings ,especially in big cities, we might not afford individual homes for everyone. We have to use them in economic way, unless we expand our properties. In metropolitan cities, we have to live in this apartments cause of become near city center, it would be nice to just walking to do shopping quickly.
In conclusion, I definitely agree with this statement about building apartments for housing in case of low-cost of renting and lack of building area. Also, living in city center is really good for transportation. We can build more great things for green cities like big parks where include cycle lanes, huge libraries for students, colleges, big shopping centers and cinemas for fun after rat race, so that’s why we need to live in this building for affordable and sustainable life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention cost-efficiency and space constraints, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'rents of homes will not increase' is asserted but not logically explained. The conclusion introduces new ideas, such as 'huge libraries' and 'cinemas,' which are not linked back to the core argument about housing density. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported point with specific examples or logical reasoning that directly addresses the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'cause of money' and 'cause of become near' are used incorrectly as connectors. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the conclusion, where the transition from housing to 'green cities' and 'fun after rat race' feels abrupt and disconnected from the previous arguments. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple terms like 'big,' 'good,' and 'bad-looking.' There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'use every single parts,' 'get more performance,' and 'in economic way.' These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations (e.g., 'urban density,' 'cost-effective,' 'infrastructure') and avoid informal phrasing like 'bad-looking' or 'fun after rat race.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and pervasive. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('rents of homes will not increase'), missing articles ('in big cities'), and incorrect preposition usage ('cause of'). The sentence 'In my opinion, I completely agree with this idea because lack of money and property' is a fragment. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation requires attention. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will help improve your score.
