Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 100 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the development of ideas is extremely limited. You mention land usage and government responsibility, but these points are not expanded upon with sufficient detail or examples. To improve, you must provide a full essay structure with clear body paragraphs that explore the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks in depth, ensuring you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no proper paragraphing, and the flow of ideas is disjointed. While you use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Furthermore', the overall progression is weak due to the brevity of the text. To achieve a higher score, you should organize your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct arguments, and a conclusion. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked logically using a wider range of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. Phrases such as 'big cities', 'really hard task', and 'congested areas' are functional but lack the academic sophistication required for IELTS Task 2. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'land utilized in establishing factories'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to urban planning and housing. Try to avoid simple phrasing and focus on using more varied and descriptive language to convey your arguments effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'That why there is not enough space' should be 'That is why there is not enough space', and 'it the government responsibility' is missing a verb. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. You should also practice combining simple sentences into more complex structures using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
