Student answer (Band 5.5)

Large number of entities are transitioning from rural to large cities or suburban areas so, the most effective method to distribute shelters in urban cities is to construct large buildings containing a lot of flats . However, I firmly agree with this mastermind statement because it would be cost effective and simple to manage population in organized way.

The primary reason is that in big cities expenses of houses are too high which is very difficult to afford for families who live hand to mouth. That`s why apartments are best choice for entities to survive in developed areas in which they can enjoy quality of living and raise standards at same time . For instance, in Islamabad which is capital of Pakistan people prefer small affordable apartments rather than buying a house because of affordable cost.

Furthermore, the other point is to structure a number of people in limited space .In urban cities people migrate from different cities for improved living standards as a result population rapidly increases so , construction of tall buildings would be best option to optimize the place and frame them in a specific place without covering large area. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding cost-effectiveness and space optimization are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the argument. To improve, you should ensure all sections are fully developed and that the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'For instance' to link your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition in the first paragraph. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending of the essay significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the piece. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring a complete, well-structured conclusion would enhance the score in this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it lacks sophistication. You use some relevant terms like 'urban cities', 'migrate', and 'optimize', but there are instances of unnatural word choices, such as 'mastermind statement' and 'entities' (used to refer to people). There are also minor errors in collocation and phrasing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations that sound natural in an IELTS context, rather than relying on slightly off-target synonyms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles (e.g., 'in Islamabad which is capital'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'I advocates'), and punctuation issues (e.g., spacing before commas). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, article usage, and standard punctuation rules. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help raise your score.
